Two Years...

Sarah and I with the super nice embryologist

Sarah trying to show her enthusiasm for only being allowed water

My amazing/strong/survivor/beating the odds/miracles from above babies!

This is not from the day of the transfer, but it was our first ultrasound picture when we found out we were having twins...

Two years ago today we were meeting the embryologist (who had a deep southern accent) and I was praying with all my heart that "it" would work. When the embryologist walked in before the procedure and showed me the picture of my embryos underneath the microscope, I instantly thought to myself, "those are my babies!" I knew without a doubt that the transfer would work, and we would have twins. I can't explain it, and I know it sounds dumb, but when I saw that picture I instantly felt bonded with those two embryos.

I told myself not to get emotional today, but I don't ever think a September 17th will ever go by without me getting emotional. Our journey actually started long before then, but that was the day there was no turning back.

Thank you Sarah for everything you sacrificed, and I am so thankful/lucky/humbled that our friendship survived. It's amazing that with everything you had to go through, you still look back with no regrets. In case you didn't know, at 26 weeks she unexpectedly had to be admitted to the hospital for 8 days due to preterm labor (everyone thought the babies were on their way), was put on strict bed rest upon being released from hospital, had a sub cutaneous pump of anti-contraction medicine put in (that she had to hook up and be monitored twice a day), her mom had to move in with her and her husband for 12+ weeks to help take care of her then 20 month old daughter, had another 5 day hospital stay at 32 weeks when she started becoming immune to the anti-contraction medicine, then developed pre-eclampsia and had to have a c section at 36 weeks 2 days. Between all the nurses of our two different doctors, none of them thought the twins would stay in her tummy as long as they did after 26 weeks.

For those of you who read this, if you ever want the definition of a selfless person, it's Sarah Antwine. :)

Enjoying the weather

The past two weekends we've tried to get outside as much as we can with the twins to enjoy this beautiful weather. We live across from out neighborhood pool, so we go over there to push them in their cars. They love to get out and push it themselves. This morning we went early since there were no cars and they had a blast. Yes they were in their pj's!

9 months later...

I finally put a new picture up! It will change again when (who am I kidding...IF) we get a good family picture taken this fall. These two kiddos make my heart smile. :)

Chef Presley

The sitter sent me this picture Friday while I was at work. It was just the pick me up I needed! :)

School

I had a great first week at school, and the twins had a good week at the sitters. It's so funny because my students are really sweet, but they are so little! I'm so uses to my taller sixth graders!

Thursday I got a text that P had thrown up several times, and got sick two more times after I picked them up. Thankfully she got it out of her system and was back to her old self by Friday!

Someone took a very short nap that day...

And someone else took a very long nap that day!

Not Easy!

Haven't had much time to blog. This while "working mom" thing is H.A.R.D! If I was teaching sixth grade, and only ONE subject, it wouldn't be as bad. My last two years teaching Reading I had to do Reading, Language, and Spelling. However that us NOTHING compared to seven subjects at a higher level, three of which are tested! I know I will survive (and hopefully thrive), because if I can handle twins for 15 months I can handle this! I might look like a deer in headlights for a while, but I am determined to not let it get the best of me. And yes, I'm writing this to hold myself accountable when I feel work starting to overtake my happy self at home. :)
